FingerMap® is a mobile biometric authentication system equipped with a global positioning system (GPS ) receiver and a life recognition system. It utilizes radio-frequency technology for fingerprint sensing of the dermis layer (ridges and valleys just under the skin), to eliminate the problems associated with dirty fingers, dry fingers, as well as minor cuts and burns to a finger. A proprietary algorithm extracts unique features of the fingerprint to create a biometric template (not an image), which is stored in the system to protect the privacy of the user. Ruggedly designed for busy construction and works sites, Fingermap is an "all-in-one unit" that is also equipped with a contactless MifareŽ card reader. Field proven, Fingermap is listed by the Construction Workers Registration Authority of the Hong Kong SA R Government as an acceptable device for registering construction workers entering and exiting work sites.
